Where to Download Dolphin Emulator Games for Free on Reddit

I'm also very new to emulating, so I don't wanna mess anything up. I've heard a lot about emulatorgames.net, but I've also seen people talk about getting malware from there. I suppose it depends on what you download ? Advice is much appreciated. :))

Just wondering where to find some gamecube roms. was looking into getting a modded gamecube and getting swiss for it to play all them pricey and great games. totally new to the whole scene. I normally collecton NES/SNES/N64.

Ive gone on VimmsLair but none of the things I download are considered ISOs so I dont know how to use them on the dolphin emulator does anyone know where I can get gamecube ISOs or if im potentially doing something wrong? also Ive tried sites like CDromance and that also did not work

I recently received my 256GB steam deck and was excited to setup various emulators. 99% of the setup is quite easy now a days due to software known as EmuDeck; however, as of this writing, setting up the Wii U emulators for games like Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD and Breath of the Wild was quite challenging. I'd seen several demo videos, showing off the games, but none showing how to set it up properly. After many hours of pain and suffering, I've finally gotten it to work and decided it would be best to share my experience. This is a bit of a long post, so if you want the highlights, just read the words in bold. They are meant to be self contained and readable in sequence. Note: This process will likely become a lot easier in the coming months/years as CEMU gets native support for Linux along with other open source community updates.

EmuDeck -> is a wonderful piece of code that does 99% of the emulation work for you. It downloads the emulators, it does the folder structuring, it sets up controller config files and more. The only thing it does not provide is the games themselves. Lots of videos online on how to set this up, along with an easy 5 step guide via the website. www.emudeck.com

Visit www.emudeck.com, download and run the emudeck software. It will probably take a few minutes to complete setup. You can either choose to store the roms on your internal storage or external SD card. Personally, I would choose internal storage, as if you choose the SD card, you'll need to add a launch command to both the emulator and all games. I'll go over how to do this now, but you really won't need to do this until later on. Just remember, if you are having issues...and you installed the games on your SD card, it's probably this!

SD Card Instructions: Within steam, once CEMU is installed as a non-steam game, you'll right click it, go to properties, then within the shortcut tab, you'll see launch options. This is where you'll paste the command. For the games, you'll do the same thing. Here is the command -> "STEAM_COMPAT_MOUNTS=/run/media/mmcblk0p1/ %command%"

Next, you'll need to get your games from somewhere. Legally I cannot give advice on how to do this outside of saying to simply use a search engine. Personally, I do not use any recent titles unless I've previously purchased the game as I want to make sure and support the companies for continued development.

Next, you'll need to place the games into the correct folder. That folder should be somewhere like this Home\Emulation\roms\wiiu\roms. I imagine this part trips up a lot of people. Usually you place your roms directly into the system folder such as Emulation\roms\system but with the Wii U, you need to create another folder called 'roms' within the wiiu folder. Yes, there will now be 2 folders named roms -> roms\wiiu\roms. You can really name it whatever, but you'll need to change it within SRM if you do, because 'roms' is what it points to by default. Also, I placed the entire game folder, not just the game file such as .rpx

Note: For games like WWHD and TPHD, this was fairly simple; however, getting BOTW to run had quite a few more steps involved, there were three different folders to work with per my download. I'd advise making sure to read any documentation that may have come with your game when downloaded. Phew....getting close. Now we need to add the games to CEMU. Fair warning, CEMU can be a bit buggy... Anyways, Start up CEMU via your steam library. You may have to minimize steam, as it kept forcing steam open on me, don't exit it out, just minimize it. Also, you may notice it spamming the keyboard open over and over. I found if you right click certain places, the keyboard stops spamming, just a tip. Now, go up to the top and click Options -> General Settings. At the bottom of the new window, you should add your wii u rom directory. This is just the folder where you placed your games previously 'roms\wiiu\roms'. Exit the window, right click anywhere in the white area of CEMU and choose to 'refresh game list'. Your games should show up!

Last step...we need to make our games also use proton. Go back into steam's game mode. Then find your game, and go to it's main menu where 'play' is shown. You'll need to choose the cog icon to the right, next to the controller settings icon. Then go to properties, compatibility, and once again force proton along with using version 7. After that, the game should be playable!!!

The last tab is the other tab, this is where you can find Retro games, defined by No-Intro and others as pre Gamecube and PS2 era. This tab exists to link to the large collections that No-Intro and various other groups have collected.

The first time a game is run, Cemu must build the shader cache as the game is running instead of loading everything at startup. This can lead to increased stutter and lag when entering new areas or environments in game. You can choose to ignore it and let Cemu build the shader cache for you, or you can download already-built shader caches from other users for your games.

It's important to remember that Dolphin is a console emulator with tons of optimizations and features. But, in the end, it does what the game instructs it to do. Some games only use features that are easy to emulate, and thus will run full-speed on just about any computer that supports Dolphin. Meanwhile, others struggle to run full speed at all times on even the most powerful of processors.

If you're suffering from this issue, make sure to delete any manually downloaded DLL files which are stored in your system paths and in the path where the Dolphin binary is stored and reinstall them with the proper runtime installers instead. Refer to the two questions above for further information.

To prevent legal issues, this includes gray areas like downloading games which you purchased earlier. You don't necessarily need to own a gaming console by yourself because you can buy a game disc and dump them with a friend's console. On the other hand, copying a friend's game dump is considered illegal again.

The Steam Deck is an insane device. Not just because of its ability to play tons of PC games, but it is also a desktop computer! Thanks to that, it opens up the possibilities of putting in other launchers, browsers, programs, and emulators. Emulators allow you to play games that have come out years and years ago on older consoles (NES, SNES, GBA, PS1, PS2, etc.). This is incredibly important today for preservation of some of the classics that will never be re-released or remade in their fantastic state. So with that, here is one of the easiest ways to set emulation up on your Deck.

While you could download all the emulators and Retroarch by hand, there is a simpler and much easier way! EmuDeck is a script that will automatically download every emulator and configure them specifically for the Steam Deck hardware and gamepad. The best part is, it is super easy as well.

Then, it will ask where you want everything to be installed. This is completely up to you, whether you want it on the Deck's internal storage or the SD card. I put mine on the SD card personally, but it is up to you. After that is clicked, it will install the emulators, as well as EmulationStation-DE and Steam Rom Manager.

After it is done, it will bring up a window saying "Yuzu is not configured", just hit ok and ignore it. This message is talking about needing keys for the Yuzu/Switch emulator, which is not something we can provide or point in the direction to. Then, it will give you a little prompt showing where to put your games and bios, as well as giving a prompt to open Steam Rom Manager. We will circle back to it, so just hit "Exit" for now.
